MaterialSpace is a unique environment in which consumers, scientists and manufacturers, can discover, create, design, brainstorm, meet, discuss, work, rest and relax. Its walls hold a collection of 2,000 of our materials, for them to experience.
This inspiring environment is equipped with several iPads for fast and easy access to the extensive MaterialSource platform, and with a high-quality projector and sound equipment which contribute to creating the atmosphere of your choice.
Visitors can take their time there and sit down to thoroughly consider all aspects of the materials of their choice. The centrally positioned table and chairs can be adjusted in height, depending on their mood, activities and goals of the moment.
When creating this unique space, all possible efforts were made to minimize the strain on Mother Earth. Its light-weight frame is made of locally produced Ecoplex FSC poplar wood. All wood paints and stains are eco-friendly. As for the aluminum parts, these are left uncoated.
Its pleasant lighting is generated by 15W LED lights. The whole space is extremely lightweight and can be packed compactly for easy transport in one container or truck. This small universe of reflection was engineered with the greatest respect and deepest love for our planet.
The layout of MaterialSpace mimics the human brain. It represents the different oppositions, approaches, views you can take when faced with everything around you: rationality versus emotion, rational thinking versus creative processes and science versus imagination.
The synthesis of all these cerebral processes occurs in the middle of the brain. This is where well-balanced decisions are taken. In MaterialSpace this part is graphically represented by the table in the middle of the room. Take your time there and sit down to thoroughly consider all aspects of the material(s) of your choice.
The wall that is used to project images is eye-shaped like the Mandala. It refers to the organic growing of all things around us and is a source of inspiration for anyone visiting MaterialSpace. As for the structure itself, it is an organic design made of sustainable wood. MaterialSpace can be accessed through three attractive entrances that turn it into an interactive, natural experience.
